Marine & Fisheries: Towards developing a climate change adaptation action plan for the marine and fisheries sector in Scotland.

15/06/10

This report summarises key points from the event: ‘New Climate Change Tools and information for decision makers in the marine and coastal sectors’, Edinburgh, 17th March 2010.

The event was organised by SCCIP in conjunction with the Marine Climate Change Impact Partnership (MCCIP), UK Climate Impact Programme (UKCIP), Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and was aimed at policy and decision makers and key practitioners.

The report was produced to act as a mechanism for delegates to pass on key messages to those working on developing the Marine and Fisheries Sector Action Plan required by the Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Framework.  The report provides an overview of three key questions raised at the event:

  • What are the key issues for marine and fisheries sector adaptation?
  • What are the adaptation plans or actions already in place to address these issues?
  • What are the main information and research gaps?
