Adaptation Scotland Development Group

The Adaptation Scotland partnership is overseen by a small Development Group, comprising representatives from Scottish Government, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Sustainable Scotland Network, UK Climate Impacts Programme and SNIFFER.

 The Scottish Government

The Scottish Government is the devolved government for Scotland, accountable to the Scottish Parliament.  It is responsible for most of the issues of day-to-day concern to the people of Scotland, including health, education, justice, rural affairs, and the environment.  The Scottish Government supports the Scottish Climate Change Impacts Partnership as a mechanism to provide effective engagement between the strategic decision makers and the regional and local stakeholders in Scotland who are crucial to an effective climate change response.

Scottish Environment Protection Agency

Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is Scotland’s environmental regulator and adviser, responsible to the Scottish Parliament through Ministers. As well as their role in controlling pollution, SEPA work with others to protect and improve our environment.

 Sustainable Scotland Network

The Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) brings together practitioners from Scotland's 32 local authorities to share experience and take action on sustainable development. The SSN works on a range of issues designed to make Scotland more sustainable. In January 2007, all 32 Scottish local authorities, in a demonstration of political unity with the Scottish Executive, signed Scotland's Climate Change Declaration.  The SSN is now working in partnership with a number of organisations to develop a Scottish Local Authority Climate Change Programme (SLACCP). This programme is identified in Scottland's Climate Change Programme. ‘Changing Our Ways' (2006).

UKCIP

The UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) provides scenarios that show how our climate might change and co-ordinates research on dealing with our future climate. UKCIP shares this information, free of charge, with organisations in the commercial and public sectors to help them prepare for the impacts of climate change

Scotland and Northern Ireland Forum for Environmental Research (SNIFFER)

Scotland and Northern Ireland Forum for Environmental Research (SNIFFER) identify and manage environmental research on behalf of SEPA, EHS, SNH, the Scottish Executive, Forestry Comission and other stakeholders. SNIFFER is developing climate change as a new cross-cutting topic area within its research and knowledge exchange activities, focused primarily on investigating the impacts of climate change and upon building a knowledge base to help us prepare to meet the challenges of, and adapt to, a changing climate.
