Sectors

The impacts and opportunities presented by a changing climate will affect almost all aspects of Scottish society.

Different sectors will face different challenges and will be presented with varying opportunities. Under the Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Framework 12 key sectors have been identified for which Sector Action Plans will be developed. These plans will address the issues specific to each sector.

In line with these sectors, this section sets out some of the challenges and opportunites likely to be faced by each sector, looks at what is currently happening in this area in Scotland and examines some of the adaptation options available. It is hoped over time to build up a library of case studies from organisations within each of these sectors.

In addition to the 12 sectors identified by the Adaptation Framework, local authorities has also been included as a key sector.
