UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (UKCCRA) Seminar, 8 March, Edinburgh
16/03/10
A seminar to increase the awareness of the UKCCRA was held in Edinburgh recently. It brought together a wide range of stakeholders from different sectors and types of organisation across Scotland.
The seminar provided an overview of what the risk assessment covers and explained how and when stakeholder organisations might be involved. The presentations and a report from the day are now available for download below.
Next Steps
There are a number of steps which stakeholders in Scotland can now take to get involved with the UKCCRA:
1. Registering on the project website
The CCRA project has a live stakeholder database to identify relevant stakeholders for different aspects of the work. Many Scottish stakeholders are already included on the database and will be contacted about project activities relevant to them. Anyone who would like to be kept informed about the CCRA project should register on the website:
http://ccra.dialoguebydesign.net/
2. Sector-level assessment
The CCRA project database is being used to identify stakeholders with a particular interest in specific sectors to ensure that sector activities involve a range of stakeholders from different parts of the UK and from different types of organisation (e.g. public, private, professional, NGO, academic) as appropriate. If you are interested in becoming involved in the sector level assessment, please register on the project website (see above) and at the same time contact the CCRA project (ccra@defra.gsi.gov.uk) mentioning the relevant sector.
Sector workshops will be held between the end of April and the end of May and dates for the workshops have now been announced. At least one stakeholder from Scotland will generally be invited to each workshop. Invitees will be contacted directly by the CCRA project. Sector stakeholders not attending workshops are likely to be invited to provide electronic input. If you have registered on the CCRA website indicating your sector interests, you will automatically be advised when this is happening.
3. CCRA Forum
A number of Scottish stakeholders (SCCIP and Scottish Government Climate Change Adaptation Team) have been invited to join this Forum and are attending. The next CCRA Forum workshop will be on 12 May in Birmingham.
4. CCRA for Scotland
The CCRA for Scotland will be carried out in the second half of 2010. It is intended to hold an activity in Scotland to get stakeholder input to the assessment. This is likely to be held in late summer/early autumn. The CCRA project hopes to organise this activity in conjunction with the Scottish Government. Further information will be provided as it becomes available, to anyone registered on the CCRA website.
If stakeholders have any further queries about how they can become involved or general enquiries about the UKCCRA please contact SCCIP (sccip@sniffer.org.uk) who will collate the questions and seek appropriate answers from the UKCCRA team.
