Climate Impact Interview - question set and recording template

Tool/Resource
Date added: 17/08/2022

A semi-structured interview question set and recording template to conduct climate impact interviews with partner organisations.

Who is it for?

Anyone that wants to explore impacts of climate change, how these link to organisational priorities, and how they are being managed with existing or new partner organisations. This is based on the interview template from the Adaptation Capability Framework Starter Pack, but is intended to be used between, rather than internally within organisations.

What will you have as a result?

A better understanding of your partners’ organisational aims and activities, the impacts of weather and climate on their priority projects, and how those impacts are being managed. Conducting interviews with your partner organisations can also help to build relationships by learning about the projects and initiatives that matter to them, and engage people in a discussion about climate change and adaptation by considering how climate and weather impacts relate to their areas of knowledge and expertise.

How to use it

Make sure that your interviewees understand the context of the interview by providing any background information a few days in advance. You should also use an ‘Interview Consent Form’ to capture their agreement be interviewed, and to confirm they understand how the information they provide will be used and stored. You should be able to complete the questions, including discussing climate impacts related to three priority areas within a 60 to 90-minute interview, although you might wish to allow some extra time for a ‘warm-up’ discussion too. Provided Sections 1, 2 and 3 are done in order, you can be flexible about which order to ask questions in within particular sections. Notes can be captured in the recording template.

You may wish to use it alongside some of our other new adaptation Tools and Resources too!
